President John Dramani Mahama has urged citizens to use the celebration of Eid ul Adha as an opportunity to promote unity and recommit to the country’s development.

In a message shared through official presidential communication channels, Mr Mahama highlighted the values of sacrifice, brotherhood and cooperation that underpin the Islamic festival, encouraging Ghanaians to embody these principles in the nation’s journey towards progress.

“Let’s use this celebration to strengthen our bonds of brotherhood and the commitment to work together to build the Ghana we want,” he said.

The message, issued by the Office of the President, comes at a time when Ghana is facing a number of economic and social challenges. Mr. Mahama emphasised the importance of shared responsibility and national solidarity in overcoming these difficulties.

Eid ul Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim—known as Abraham in the Judeo-Christian tradition—to sacrifice his son in obedience to God. Mr Mahama referenced the spirit of this story, urging both personal and collective sacrifice in service of national development.
