Ministry of the Interior has declared Friday, July 4, 2025, a public holiday nationwide, extending the upcoming weekend for citizens across the country.

The announcement, made via a press release on Thursday, follows a directive from President John Dramani Mahama issued through an Executive Instrument (E.I), in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, 2021 (Act 601).

Although Republic Day falls on Tuesday, July 1, the government has opted to shift the observance to the following Friday. The move effectively grants Ghanaians a long weekend, with many expected to take advantage of the extended break.

Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, who signed the official statement, called on the public to observe the day appropriately across the country.
