Parliament has unanimously approved four nominees for appointment as Deputy Ministers after adopting the report of the Appointments Committee on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.
Those approved include Dorcas Affo-Toffey, the Member of Parliament for Jomoro, who will serve as Deputy Minister for Transport; James Gyakye Quayson, the MP for Assin North, appointed as Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs; Mohammed Adam Sukparu, MP for Sissala West, who takes up the role of Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation; and Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, MP for Essikado-Ketan, who assumes the position of Deputy Minister for Health.
Presenting the Committee’s report to the House, Chairman Bernard Ahiafor explained that the nominees were subjected to a comprehensive vetting process, which involved reviewing relevant documentation, soliciting public input, and conducting a public hearing on July 25, 2025.
“After careful scrutiny, the Committee found all nominees competent and suitable. We therefore recommend, by consensus, that the House approves their nominations,” he said.
The nominations were referred to the Committee on July 17, 2025, by Speaker Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, following President John Dramani Mahama’s submission in accordance with Articles 78(1) and 79(1) of the 1992 Constitution.
