Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been granted conditional bail following his appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on multiple rape and sexual assault charges.

The 32-year-old, who strongly denies all allegations, faces five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault relating to incidents alleged to have occurred between 2021 and 2022, involving three women.

Partey was officially charged by the Metropolitan Police in July, just days after his exit from Arsenal. Despite the ongoing case, reports indicate he is close to sealing a move to La Liga side Villarreal, a decision that has drawn criticism from a supporters’ group.

His lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, reiterated her client’s innocence, stating that Partey “welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name.”

The case continues as Partey prepares to defend himself against the allegations.
