The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has confirmed that the bodies of all eight victims of Wednesday’s fatal Z-9 military helicopter crash have been airlifted to Accra and deposited at the 37 Military Hospital.

The remains were recovered from the crash site near Sikaman in the Adansi Akrofuom district of the Ashanti Region and transported aboard a Ghana Air Force Casa aircraft on the afternoon of August 6, 2025.

A solemn reception was held at the Air Force Base in Accra to honour the fallen. The Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Hon. Julius Debrah, led government officials, the Military High Command, and sympathisers to receive the bodies.

In a statement issued by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations, the GAF expressed deep appreciation to the residents of Sikaman and the various security agencies who assisted in the recovery efforts.

The statement also conveyed condolences from Deputy Defence Minister Hon. Brogya Genfi and the Military High Command to the bereaved families, describing the incident as a “difficult national tragedy.”

Funeral details will be communicated in due course.
