Ghana’s sachet water producers will raise prices beginning April 6, citing mounting input costs tied to global supply disruptions.
The National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers said Thursday that a shortage of polymers—exacerbated by geopolitical tensions involving Iran—has driven up production expenses, leaving manufacturers unable to sustain current pricing levels.
Under the revised structure, a standard bag of 30 sachets (500 milliliters each) will carry an ex-factory price of GH¢8, increase to GH¢10 at the distributor level, and reach a maximum retail price of GH¢15.
The association urged retailers to comply with the new guidelines, framing the adjustment as necessary to maintain supply and uphold quality standards in the face of rising costs.
