Star Oil, GOIL Lower Fuel Prices at Start of April’s Second Pricing Window

Fuel retailers in Ghana trimmed pump prices at the start of the second April pricing window, offering motorists modest relief after weeks of increases driven by global market volatility.

Privately owned Star Oil lowered petrol prices by 3 pesewas per liter to GH¢13.27, while cutting diesel more sharply by GH¢1.00 per liter to GH¢16.10. Its premium RON 95 grade was reduced to GH¢14.67 from GH¢14.99. The changes took effect Thursday morning.

State-owned GOIL made similar adjustments, aligning prices with newly set minimum benchmarks. Petrol fell to GH¢13.27 per liter from GH¢13.30, and diesel dropped to GH¢16.10 from GH¢17.10. Its Super XP 95 grade remained unchanged at GH¢15.77.

The price reductions follow a series of increases in recent weeks, largely attributed to swings in global oil markets amid tensions in the Middle East.
They also come after the government introduced temporary subsidies, absorbing GH¢2.00 per liter on diesel and GH¢0.36 per liter on petrol to ease the burden on consumers.

Industry participants expect additional oil marketing companies to adjust prices in the coming days, as the revised benchmarks ripple across the market.
