Emergency responders rescued four people from the rubble of a collapsed two-story apartment building in Adenta New Site on Wednesday evening, while a fifth occupant was later recovered unconscious after an hourslong search operation, according to the Ghana National Fire Service.

The building, located near Da Yesu Ase Supermarket, collapsed during a heavy downpour, trapping five occupants—three adults and two children—beneath the debris.
The Ghana National Fire Service said it received a distress call at 6:36 p.m. Rescue teams from its National Headquarters, supported by personnel from the Legon and Abelemkpe fire stations, were dispatched to the scene and began search-and-rescue operations.

Four victims—identified as Fred Atagba, Solomon, Seyeram Dzigda and David Dzigda—were pulled from the wreckage alive and transported to 37 Military Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the collapse.
Rescuers also recovered a dog alive from the debris.

The remaining occupant, Margaret Kpeli, believed to be in her late 30s, was located after an intensive search and retrieved from beneath the rubble in an unconscious state. She was subsequently handed over to the Adenta District Police for preservation and further investigation.
The rescue operation concluded at 10:54 p.m. Thursday, more than 24 hours after the structure gave way.

The Fire Service commended residents who assisted in the initial rescue efforts and acknowledged the contributions of personnel from the Ghana Police Service, medical teams and other agencies involved in the operation.
