The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced the recruitment of over 200 professionals specializing in mathematics, statistics, and related fields to enhance the accuracy and transparency of the upcoming 2024 election results.

Dr Eric Bossman Asare, the EC’s Deputy Chairperson, emphasized the Commission’s commitment to delivering a reliable and error-free electoral process, aimed at upholding public trust in the nation’s democratic system. Speaking in an interview on Tuesday, Dr Asare detailed the extensive preparations being made to ensure that the election is conducted with the highest levels of transparency.

“Our newly recruited professionals will support accurate data collation, vote counting, and statistical analysis—key areas essential to maintaining credibility in the electoral process,” he stated.

In addition to the 200 specialists, the EC has brought on over 280,000 staff members nationwide, including returning officers and other election personnel, to manage various aspects of the election. Dr Asare noted that these experts would play a crucial role in assisting constituency-level officers, reducing the chance of errors that could affect public confidence in the results.

The EC’s efforts are seen as part of a broader strategy to prevent discrepancies and strengthen the trustworthiness of the voting process.
