The US Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia E. Palmer, has assured that Ghana and the United States will maintain their longstanding partnership, regardless of the outcome of the US presidential election.
In a press briefing on 6 November 2024, Ambassador Palmer underscored the resilience of Ghana-US ties, highlighting that the partnership would endure no matter who occupies the White House.
“I am pleased to address the press today and underscore that, despite the excitement of the moment, the United States and our embassy are fully committed to strengthening our ties with Ghana,” she said.
Acknowledging that both Ghana and the United States will see new administrations in the coming year, Palmer described Ghana as a “foundational country” for the United States in Africa.
“This marks my sixth presidential election during my diplomatic career, and I have consistently served under diverse administrations. The relationship with Ghana remains a priority for the United States, regardless of any changes in leadership,” she added.
The Ambassador’s comments come as the US and Ghana approach significant political transitions, with reassurances that their bilateral ties will remain a pillar of stability in the region.
