The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has welcomed Donald Trump’s recent victory in the U.S. presidential election, describing it as a positive sign for the party’s prospects in Ghana’s forthcoming elections on December 7.
In a statement on Wednesday, NDC General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey congratulated Trump on his return to the White House, suggesting that American voters’ choice for experienced leadership could be mirrored in Ghana.
Kwetey argued that, much like American voters, Ghanaians are disillusioned with their current government’s record, citing issues of “insensitivity, corruption, and economic mismanagement.” He expressed confidence that Ghanaians would similarly turn to the NDC to “restore stability, integrity, and renewed hope” in the country.
The NDC, led by former president John Dramani Mahama, has been positioning itself as the alternative to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), promising a fresh approach to governance and economic recovery.
