Parliament in Ghana is set to reconvene today at 10 a.m., amid ongoing tensions between the two major political parties, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), over control of the majority in the chamber.

The session, convened by Speaker Alban Bagbin, will be held at the Accra International Conference Centre, where sittings are temporarily relocated as Parliament House undergoes renovation. The recall was formally issued to Members of Parliament on October 31.

Speaker Bagbin’s decision to summon lawmakers is supported by Article 112 (3) of Ghana’s Constitution and Standing Orders 5 and 53, which enable the Speaker to reconvene Parliament in the public interest.

While no official agenda has been disclosed, today’s sitting is expected to address urgent national issues. Parliament had previously adjourned indefinitely on October 22 after a contentious dispute between the NPP and NDC over their respective claims to a parliamentary majority.
