Ghana’s National Best Farmer Awarded to 70-Year-Old Nana Owusu Achiaw Brempong

Nana Owusu Achiaw Brempong, a seasoned 70-year-old farmer from Sekyere Central in the Ashanti Region, has been named Ghana’s National Best Farmer for 2024.

With a farming career that spans five decades, Nana Owusu owns and manages North American Farms, which employs 168 workers and cultivates a range of crops, including cocoa and cashew.

As part of his award, he received one million Ghana cedis. During his acceptance speech at the Farmers’ Day celebration on November 8, Nana Owusu emphasized the need for increased focus on food security in Ghana.

The Farmers’ Day celebration, held concurrently across the country, honored the contributions of farmers to Ghana’s economy. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and other dignitaries attended the main event, recognizing the essential role of agriculture in national development.
