In an important update ahead of the upcoming election, Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson, Jean Mensa, has confirmed that the design of the presidential ballot is at its final stage.

Addressing party representatives at an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on Tuesday, November 12, Mad. Mensa said “This morning, we are here to inform you of the Commission’s decision to maintain the presidential ballot as it is.” She further disclosed that the printing process is nearly complete, with 90 percent of the ballots already finished.

This means that the image of the founder and initial presidential candidate of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Akua Donkor, will remain in the third position on the ballot paper. However, any votes cast in her name will be nullified and will not be counted. The decision was made after Philip Appiah Kubi, Madam Donkor’s replacement, was disqualified.

The EC Chair further assured that representatives from various political parties have been observing the ballot printing process in person, reinforcing the EC’s commitment to transparency.
