Mr. Richard Botwe, a self-described organizer for the Ghana Freedom Party, has expressed his view that the disqualification of Philip Appiah Kubi, as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2024 Elections would provide a unique opportunity to honor the party’s late founder, Akua Donkor.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Botwe said “We are pleased because this is the time to honor Akua Donkor.”

Mad. Donkor, the GFP’s founding leader and initial presidential candidate, tragically passed away in late October. Her image and party symbol will remain in the third position on the ballot, but any votes cast in her name will be nullified.

Despite the setback, Botwe sees the situation as a chance for Ghanaians to remember Donkor’s dedication to the party and her legacy. With her image on the ballot, the GFP hopes her vision and influence will continue to inspire voters across Ghana.
