The Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) has donated two dialysis machines and accompanying chairs to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, aiming to ease equipment shortages in the facility’s Dialysis Unit.
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, GACL’s contribution, valued at around $112,000 (1.9 million Ghana cedis), will also fund one month of free dialysis treatment for 50 patients at the hospital.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Mrs. Yvonne Opare, Managing Director of GACL, expressed confidence in the impact of the donation. “We have seen reports of equipment shortages at Korle Bu, so we decided to step in. This donation not only provides the machines but will make a difference in the lives of at least 50 people,” she said. Mrs. Opare added that GACL planned to extend similar support to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
Dr. Frank Owusu-Sekyere, Acting CEO of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, thanked GACL for its support. “We are immensely grateful for this donation, which will be put to good use. Patients requiring dialysis face tremendous challenges, but healthcare is a shared responsibility. Support like this is invaluable,” he said.
GACL’s donation underscores its commitment to supporting healthcare services and aiding patients in need across Ghana.
