New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has refuted claims by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) that, if elected, he would allow Fulani herdsmen to destroy farmlands.

Speaking to supporters at a “Bawumia Connect” event in Sekyere Odumasi on 13 November, Dr Bawumia assured Ghanaians that his administration would uphold the law without discrimination. He directly addressed allegations circulating on social media, which he described as “propaganda” aimed at dividing voters.

“I’m hearing this rumour that, under my presidency, Fulani people would be permitted to destroy farms,” he said. “These are lies. Everyone will be treated fairly and equally under the law.”

He urged Ghanaians to ignore the claims and focus on building a unified nation. “We should all be united and vote for number one,” Dr Bawumia added, referencing his position on the ballot.
