In a significant move ahead of the December 2024 elections, Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama, wife of NDC Presidential Candidate John Dramani Mahama, visited the Manhyia Palace to seek blessings from the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

The visit underscores her commitment to engaging with the Ashanti Region, a key battleground in the upcoming elections. Speaking during her courtesy call, Mrs. Mahama expressed her respect for the royal family and emphasized the importance of their blessings for her husband’s campaign.

“As we all know, my husband, your son, John Mahama, is contesting for the presidency in December,” she stated. “I always feel at home at Manhyia, as Asantehemaa has been like a mother to me.”

The Asantehemaa warmly welcomed the former First Lady, expressing her joy at the visit and offering prayers for divine guidance in the elections. She acknowledged the competitive nature of the political process and shared her hope that Ghanaians will choose the right leader to steer the nation forward.

Mrs. Mahama also held a private meeting with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, seeking his approval and support as she begins her campaign outreach in the Ashanti Region.

The former First Lady was accompanied by prominent members of the NDC, including Regional Chairman Nana Kwasi Andrew, former Attorney General Betty Mould Iddrisu, Deputy Director of Communications Obuobia Darko-Opoku, former Deputy Defence Minister Kenneth Adjei, and key party representatives from the Ashanti Region.
