The Assemblies of God Ghana has unveiled its 2025 theme, “Pray Without Ceasing – For Supernatural Manifestations” (1 Thessalonians 5:17), calling on members and leaders to embrace daily prayer as a cornerstone of their spiritual lives.

The announcement was made by the church’s General Superintendent, Reverend Stephen Yenusom Wengam, during a leadership retreat held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi on Thursday, 14 November 2024. The event brought together over 260 key figures, including the General Secretary, 58 Executive Presbytery members and their spouses, district pastors, and leaders of various Assemblies of God agencies.

Addressing the retreat, Rev. Wengam stressed the critical role of prayer in sustaining the church’s spiritual vitality, warning of the consequences of neglecting it.

“When we don’t pray as leaders, we kill the spirit of the church and risk losing members,” he cautioned.

Rev. Wengam described prayer as essential to daily life, likening it to the air humans breathe. He encouraged members to see it not as an occasional duty but as a continual practice that deepens their relationship with God.

“Prayer is a daily necessity. It provokes grace, opens the heavens, and brings a fresh refilling of the Holy Spirit,” he said.

He further highlighted the transformative power of prayer in breaking barriers such as addictions and personal limitations, while also activating spiritual power, releasing divine glory, and enabling angelic intervention.

The theme for 2025 was chosen after extensive consultation and prayer, with the aim of fostering a culture of ceaseless prayer across all Assemblies of God congregations in Ghana. Rev. Wengam expressed confidence that this focus would strengthen members’ faith and equip the church to overcome spiritual and societal challenges.

The retreat, described as a capacity-building and prayer session, served as a rallying point for leaders to recommit to prayer and their spiritual responsibilities within the church.
