Hearts of Oak marked their 113th anniversary with a narrow 1-0 victory over Karela United at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale.

Hamza Issah’s decisive third-minute goal secured a third straight win for the Phobians, who have surged into the top four under head coach Aboubakar Ouattara. The result leaves them just four points adrift of the league leaders, capping an impressive turnaround after a poor start to the season.

In sharp contrast, Asante Kotoko’s woes continued as they succumbed to a 2-0 loss against Nations FC at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi. Nafiu Sulemana and Faisal Charwetey struck for the newly promoted side, with Charwetey netting his eighth goal of the campaign. The defeat piles further pressure on Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum, whose side has now lost four matches in a row.

The victory propelled Nations FC to the top of the league standings, capitalising on Bibiani GoldStars’ 2-0 defeat to Medeama SC. Goals from Derrick Fordjour and Kelvin Nkrumah sealed Medeama’s win, ending GoldStars’ unbeaten start to the season and boosting Medeama’s title hopes.
