Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC) is “fully ready” to conduct the December 7 general elections, says Dr. Bossman Asare, Deputy Chairman in charge of Corporate Services.

Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express programme on Sunday, Dr. Asare highlighted the Commission’s advanced preparations, assuring voters that critical milestones had been met ahead of schedule.

“I wouldn’t only say we are ready; we are fully ready with 18 days to go,” Dr. Asare declared. “Several key processes are not just on track but ahead of time.”

He revealed that over half of the ballot papers had already been delivered to regional capitals under police protection, with training for election officials also progressing steadily.

“National-level training has been completed. We are now starting at the regional level and will soon move to the constituencies,” he added.

Dr. Asare exuded confidence in the Commission’s readiness, even suggesting elections could be conducted earlier if required.

“If the elections were to be held next week, we would still be able to deliver,” he said.

The EC has, however, faced minor issues with ballot serial numbers in the Ahafo and Volta regions, but Dr. Asare confirmed these challenges were being resolved.

Special voting for security personnel, election officials, and media personnel will take place on December 2, ahead of the main elections on December 7, which will determine Ghana’s next president and parliamentary representatives.
