The Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr Ernest Addison, has expressed optimism that the newly inaugurated headquarters will enhance the bank’s efficiency and reinforce Ghana’s position as a leader in Africa’s financial sector.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Wednesday, 20 November, Dr Addison highlighted the strategic significance of the $250 million facility in unifying the bank’s operations and supporting a stronger financial system.

Dr Addison explained that the new headquarters would centralise operations previously spread across multiple offices in Accra, a move he said would improve coordination, streamline communication, and cut costs.

“This new head office provides us with the opportunity to better streamline our operations, improve communication, reduce costs and create the synergies needed for efficiency,” he said.

The governor described the headquarters, which includes the Tower, Urban, and Amenities Blocks along with basements and podiums, as a forward-looking development designed to meet the demands of the modern global financial environment.

“The Bank Square was designed with the future in mind and stands as one of the most important modern civic landmarks in the city of Accra and for that matter, our nation,” Dr Addison stated. “This building will play a pivotal role in shaping Ghana’s identity as a leading force in Africa’s financial ecosystem.”

The new facility forms part of the Bank of Ghana’s broader modernisation agenda aimed at strengthening its role in a rapidly evolving financial landscape.
