Ghana’s Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare, has called on political parties to work closely with law enforcement to ensure peaceful and orderly elections in 2024.

Addressing party representatives in Accra on Thursday, 21 November, Dr Dampare emphasised the importance of cooperation among all stakeholders, stressing that the police are fully prepared to maintain law and order throughout the electoral process.

The police chief urged parties to adopt a balanced approach to the outcome of the polls. “As you prepare to celebrate your possible victory, also plan to endure your potential defeat, knowing that only one will emerge victorious,” he said.

He added that the collective commitment of all parties would ensure the country’s success during the election period. “As long as everybody plays their role, Ghana will win,” Dr Dampare stated.
