Ursula Urges Gov’t to Build Sea Defence Wall to Protect Dansoman Residents

The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has made an urgent appeal to the government to construct a sea defence wall at Gbegbesie-Shiabu in Dansoman, amid growing devastation caused by tidal waves.

Speaking to 3News, Ms Owusu-Ekuful expressed deep concern over the severe impact of coastal erosion and flooding, which has already displaced families and destroyed infrastructure in the area.

“The sea is wreaking havoc. Places where we stood to campaign in 2020 are now underwater,” she said. “The main road in the community, which we asphalted in 2020, is at risk of being completely washed away. If the government does not extend the sea defence wall beyond Akweteiman, more communities along the coastline will suffer.”

The MP highlighted the urgency of the situation, noting that tidal waves have swallowed homes, roads, and critical infrastructure in vulnerable areas. She warned that without immediate action, the loss of property and risk to lives would escalate.
