Ghana has been spotlighted in Netflix’s latest documentary, Buy Now! The Shopping Conspiracy, which examines the environmental and human costs of corporate practices, particularly in the Global South.

The documentary investigates critical issues such as plastic pollution, fast fashion, e-waste, and planned obsolescence. It uses Ghana as a case study to explore the consequences of these industries, with a focus on e-waste dumping and the environmental burden of textile waste.

The film includes testimony from whistleblowers and insiders at major global brands like Apple, Amazon, Adidas, H&M, Shein, and Zara, shedding light on their role in perpetuating these challenges.

Buy Now! The Shopping Conspiracy premiered in London on 20 November and is now available for streaming worldwide.
