John Dumelo, the parliamentary candidate for National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ayawaso West Wuogon, has come to the aid of a visually impaired law student, averting a potential deferral from the Ghana School of Law.

The student, Gabriel Selasie Doe, had been struggling to settle his remaining tuition fees of GHC10,400, putting him at risk of losing a year of study. Dumelo intervened after being contacted by a mutual friend who relayed the student’s dire situation.

Taking to social media platform X, Dumelo shared details of his assistance: “Visually impaired law student Gabriel Selasie Doe reached out to me through a friend to help him pay the remainder of his GHC10,400 fees after he had to sell his laptop earlier. By God’s grace, I have fully paid his fees and also given money to help him retrieve his laptop.”

The intervention has been described as a lifeline for the student, who had already faced significant challenges due to his visual impairment. Dumelo’s gesture ensures that Selasie Doe can continue his studies without further disruption.

The move has been widely lauded, with many praising Dumelo for not only addressing an immediate financial need but also for demonstrating his commitment to supporting education and individuals in need.
