The Director of Elections for Ghana’s National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Edward Omane Boamah has condemned the Electoral Commission (EC) for repeated errors in the printing of ballot papers for the Volta Region. Dr. Boamah described the mistakes as “avoidable” and expressed concern over the impact on the region, which is a key stronghold for the NDC.

In a Facebook post on November 29, Dr. Boamah shared that the party’s #EAGLEEYES team, which observed the printing and bagging process at Act Commercial Printing House, had reported that the EC made another error despite the correct ballot statistics being provided.

“This has become a recurring issue. We urge the Electoral Commission to address this situation publicly and not sweep it under the rug,” Dr. Boamah wrote.

He emphasized that the ongoing ballot discrepancies in Volta were troubling, noting that the region’s importance to the NDC made these errors particularly significant. He also announced plans to attend an upcoming Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting to raise the issue at a national level.

The Electoral Commission of Ghana had earlier revealed that shortfalls had been identified in the printing of both Presidential and Parliamentary ballot papers for constituencies in the Volta Region, including Keta, Ketu North, Ho Central, Hohoe, and Ho West. The Commission confirmed that these issues would be rectified at the printing house, Act Commercial, where the errors were detected.

This marks the latest in a series of challenges faced by the EC in preparing for upcoming elections.
