Dancehall artist Shatta Wale has expressed strong disapproval of the Ghana Police Service’s decision to arrest young individuals for brandishing and firing toy guns. The police apprehended 26 individuals for violating Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act of 1960, which prohibits such actions.

The trend of playing with toy guns began in Kumasi, where young people sought to relive childhood memories. This playful activity quickly gained popularity on social media, prompting more participants to join in the fun.

In a recent social media post, Shatta Wale described the arrests as “primitive.” He argued that the police should be guiding these youths instead of resorting to legal action. “Arresting ghetto youth for playing with toy guns and failing to guide them during the Christmas celebration is the most primitive act in 2024,” he stated. “THE TRUTH – UNLESS THEY KEEL GOD.”
