The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has rejected claims that it intentionally scheduled its final rally for Thursday, December 5, 2024, to coincide with the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) event on the same day.

With just six days to go before the 2024 elections, both major political parties are set to hold their concluding rallies on December 5, sparking debate over the timing.

Some have accused the NDC of deliberately planning its rally to disrupt the NPP’s event. However, Mustapha Gbande, the NDC’s Deputy General Secretary, dismissed these allegations, insisting the clash was unintentional.

“We’re finalising our campaign schedules. I don’t think it’s a coincidence, nor a deliberate attempt to undermine the NPP. What matters most is that Ghanaians will have a choice to either continue with their suffering or vote for change,” Gbande said. He further expressed confidence in former President Mahama’s appeal to the electorate, stating he is not just the NDC’s candidate but one for the people of Ghana.

Meanwhile, the NPP’s Deputy General Secretary, Haruna Mohammed, described the upcoming rally as the final push in the party’s nationwide campaign, which is intensifying in the days leading up to the election.

“The final stretch begins this Sunday. This week is focused on key activities and visits to areas the flagbearer has yet to reach,” Mohammed said, adding that senior party figures, including the national secretary, organiser, and chairman, are touring the country to deliver their candidate’s message.
