Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale has addressed the ongoing lawsuit filed against him by his former manager, Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, known as Bullgod.
In an exclusive interview with NY DJ on BTM Afrika, Shatta Wale explained that the lawsuit stemmed from an out-of-court settlement agreement made nearly a year ago, following a defamation lawsuit filed by Bullgod. The agreement included a promise from Shatta Wale to pay GH₵100,000, but he has not yet fulfilled the commitment.
Shatta Wale stated that the delay occurred because Bullgod was unavailable when his team attempted to make the payment. He also suggested that Bullgod’s decision to return to court was driven by malice. “There’s no different cause of action. Bulldog just wants to take his money,” he said, adding that Bullgod’s proximity to the court, with his house being close by, makes him quick to engage in legal action.
In late 2022, Bullgod sued Shatta Wale for defamation after the artist made threats to expose details related to the death of his former manager, Fennec Okyere. In March 2023, the two parties agreed to settle the case out of court, but the payment of the agreed GH₵100,000 legal fee has yet to be made.
