Dancehall artist Shatta Wale has bought a three-bedroom house for his mother, Elsie Evelyn Avemegah, following her public plea for support and accusations of neglect.
Sammy Flex, Shatta Wale’s manager, confirmed that the house was purchased in September 2024, after Madam Elsie claimed in July that her son had stopped communicating with her and had neglected her for over a decade. The accusations sparked public criticism of the artist.
In an emotional interview, Madam Elsie revealed that she was suffering from a serious illness and was being cared for by her sister and niece, Sharita Aheteku. She also made a public request for financial support to cover her personal and medical expenses.
In response, Shatta Wale refuted the claims of neglect, pointing to his past efforts to support his mother, including purchasing four cars and renting her a house. Despite his contributions, he stated that his actions had often gone unappreciated.
It appears that the relationship between Shatta Wale and his mother has now been reconciled.
Sammy Flex explained that after discussing the matter with some prominent colleagues, Shatta Wale decided to invest a significant amount of money into purchasing the house in an exclusive neighborhood. He recounted the process of informing Madam Elsie about the new home, saying, “I called Shatta’s mum and told her that Shatta had gotten a house for her and wanted us to take her there. She agreed, and we arranged for a truck to move her belongings.”
Flex also shared a tour of the new property, showcasing both the interior and exterior, while explaining how he facilitated the relocation.
The manager added that he chose to publicly share the details of the house in response to the backlash Shatta Wale received for gifting GH₵20,000 to fellow artist Priscilla Osei and her mother.
