Mahama condemns Ayawaso West Wuogon MP sharing food to voters

Former President John Dramani Mahama has condemned the distribution of food to voters, who were in queue to cast their ballots during the recently held special voting exercise by the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Lydia Seyeram Alhassan.

He emphasized that such practices, including the distribution of food to voters and the recording of videos or photographs, violate Ghana’s electoral laws.

The former president made these remarks during a mini rally at Bosome Freho in the Tebeso constituency of the Ashanti Region, urging political stakeholders to uphold the integrity of the electoral process and discourage actions that undermine fairness.

“We all saw what happened during the special voting at Ayawaso West Wuogon where some people were distributing food to those in queue to cast their votes. That is against the law,” Mahama said.

Criticizing the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Mahama stated that an honorable person is not expected to engage in such activities.

He called on investigative bodies to thoroughly examine the issue and ensure justice is served.
