Over 12,000 eligible voters in the Eastern Region are set to participate in special voting on Thursday, December 5, 2024.
By 9:30 am on Wednesday, officials for all 31 constituencies had been dispatched from the Police Regional Headquarters in Koforidua. Party agents were on hand to monitor the process and seal the ballot boxes.
John Appiah Baffoe, the Eastern Regional Electoral Commission Director, confirmed that all constituencies, including Kwahu Afram Plains North and South, had received their ballots for the special voting exercise. “We received our ballot papers today at 7:30 am, and all constituencies are prepared for tomorrow’s special voting,” he said.
He added that the ballots for Kwahu Afram Plains North and South had been airlifted directly to the region. Meanwhile, the remaining 31 constituencies are set to receive their ballots for the general election on Thursday morning in preparation for Saturday’s vote.
The special voting for the region was initially scheduled for Monday but was postponed to Thursday after a defaced ballot was discovered in the wrong hands.
