The Supreme Court has dismissed an application for an interim injunction that sought to stop the NDC Amenfi Central Parliamentary election from proceeding.

The plaintiffs in a case at the Sekondi High Court against the NDC and Joana Cudjoe Gyan filed a certiorari application with the Supreme Court on Wednesday, December 4, seeking to overturn the decision that had vacated the injunction against the party and the Electoral Commission (EC).

Justice Yonni Kulendi, the sole judge assigned to the case, heard the ex parte application on Thursday, December 5.

However, he dismissed the application, clearing the way for the Amenfi Central election to go ahead as scheduled.

The plaintiffs’ latest move follows a ruling by the Sekondi High Court, which on Monday, November 11, 2024, set aside the injunction that had prevented Joana Gyan Cudjoe from contesting the parliamentary election.

This decision came after the NDC requested the court lift the injunction on its candidate and dismiss the disqualification case.

The case was presided over by His Lordship George K. Gyan-Kontoh. The court had previously adjourned the application following a request by Edudzie Tamakloe, one of the lead counsels representing Joana Gyan Cudjoe.
