The Eminent Persons Group of the Christian Council of Ghana has urged security agencies to demonstrate professionalism and impartiality in the upcoming December 7 elections.

The group made up of leaders of Christian and Muslim leaders emphasized that the integrity of the electoral process largely depends on the conduct of the security forces.

Addressing the media, the Co-Chair of the Eminent Persons Group Dr. Paul Kwabena Boafo stressed that their role in maintaining a peaceful and fair election is critical for upholding the credibility and transparency of the election results.

“The Eminent Persons Group call upon the Ghana police service and all state security agencies to maintain professionalism and neutrality during the election. Inspector general of police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has assured us of their commitment, impartiality and professionalism which we commend and Applaud. We expect this commitment to be reflected in their actions on voting day and beyond.

“The police must ensure that every citizen can exercise their right to vote without fear or intimidation. The integration of our electoral process relies on the commitment of our security personnel to uphold the law fairly,” he stated.
