Former President and NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama has made a bold claim that members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) are losing faith in their government and secretly vowing to support the opposition in the 2024 elections.
Speaking to party supporters at the party’s final rally in Accra, Mahama alleged that many NPP members are disillusioned with the leadership of President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, citing dissatisfaction with their governance as a key reason.
“People in the NPP have lost hope in their government. They’re disappointed in the activities of their party,” Mahama stated. “What my friends in the party keep telling me secretly is that Akufo-Addo and Bawumia’s governance has brought shame to the party.”
The former president predicted that this wave of discontent would reshape the political landscape in the upcoming elections. “This election isn’t about the NDC and floating voters. Many NPP supporters themselves will vote for the NDC,” he added confidently.
