The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has outlined its priority for a potential first year in government, with a focus on restoring Ghana’s state institutions. In a speech delivered at the party’s final rally at Zurak Park in Madina, Accra, National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia stressed the importance of resetting governance, accountability, and resource management structures.

Mr Nketia highlighted that the party’s initial efforts would centre on rebuilding key institutions, which he described as crucial to long-term national progress. “The reset of our state institutions is far more important than isolated development projects,” he said, emphasising that any development initiatives would only be sustainable if the institutions were in proper working order.

The NDC chairman called on Ghanaians to back the party’s vision, urging them to focus on the restoration of governance and democratic systems in the first year. “If we get the institutions right, then any development we undertake will be lasting,” he added.

Mr Nketia also warned against neglecting the current state of state institutions, pointing out that no meaningful development could take place unless these foundational structures were strengthened.
