The Deputy Head of Research at the Electoral Commission (EC), Fred Tetteh, has assured eligible voters who have lost their voter cards that they can still exercise their right to vote.

According to Tetteh, such individuals can visit their registered polling station and cast their vote after explaining their situation to the EC’s verification officer at the polling station.

He emphasized that the voting process will proceed once the voter’s identity has been successfully verified.

Tetteh also highlighted that the EC’s system contains detailed records of all registered voters, ensuring a smooth process for those without their voter cards.

This clarification is expected to allay concerns and ensure no eligible voter is disenfranchised during the election.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Citi FM with Bernard Avle, on December 7, Mr Tetteh said, “However, if a voter cannot find his/her voter card on this day, you don’t need to worry, just walk into the polling station, provided you are sure it is your polling station.

“Whether you have the card or you don’t have the card, all that is needed is your fingerprints, your face. Just show up your face and your fingers and that is enough.”
