The Electoral Commission (EC) has issued a strong warning to all election officials, emphasizing that those who violate electoral processes or laws will face prosecution.

This comes after a ballot issuer, Joseph Derry, was arrested for allegedly tearing off the New Patriotic Party’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on 15 ballot papers at the Temporary Booth Bayiri Polling Station in the Techiman South District.

In a statement, Deputy Chairman Samuel Tettey declared, “The Commission will not shield any election officials who misconduct themselves during the elections. Anyone who breaches the rules will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”

The EC reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the integrity of the electoral process and called on the public to report any irregularities. “We urge everyone to remain calm and cooperate with the authorities to safeguard the credibility of this election,” Tettey added.
