A significant military presence has been deployed at the Ejura Sekyedumase constituency collation centre in the Ashanti Region as vote counting gets underway.
Late in the evening, a truckload of armed soldiers arrived at the premises where the sorting process was taking place. The arrival of the troops prompted some residents to voice their concerns, with shouts heard as the soldiers disembarked near the collation centre.
Earlier in the day, journalists raised concerns after being prevented by police and Electoral Commission (EC) officials from entering the sorting and counting area. However, reporters were later granted access, while political party observers were informed by EC officials that they would first need to undergo a verification process before being allowed entry.
