President-elect John Dramani Mahama has expressed deep gratitude to God following his re-election, thanking the Almighty for guiding him through the campaign and granting him the opportunity to serve as Ghana’s leader once again.

In his victory speech on December 9, Mahama quoted scripture, saying, “I thank God for preparing a table before me in the presence of my enemies,” as he reflected on his emphatic win in the 2024 elections.

The Electoral Commission confirmed Mahama’s victory with 6,328,397 votes, or 56.55% of the total votes, defeating his main rival, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who secured 4,657,304 votes (41.61%).

Mahama also expressed gratitude to the Ghanaian people for their overwhelming support, which led to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) securing a majority in Parliament. The NDC has already won over 160 seats, including key constituencies previously held by the ruling NPP, strengthening Mahama’s mandate as he prepares for a return to the presidency.
