The Ghana Police Service has arrested nine individuals in connection with the recent burning of the Electoral Commission (EC) office in Ayensuano, Eastern Region. The attack is part of a series of post-election disturbances in the area.
The suspects, whose identities have not been revealed, were apprehended after a thorough investigation by the police. This brings the total number of individuals detained in relation to post-election violence to 106. All suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations, and are expected to face legal proceedings in due course.
A spokesperson for the Ghana Police Service reassured the public that law enforcement and other security agencies remain committed to upholding peace and order. “We wish to assure the public that the Police and other security agencies are dedicated to maintaining law and order,” the spokesperson said.
Authorities have called on the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement as they work to bring those responsible to justice.
