Irchad Ramiandrasoa Razaaly, the European Union Ambassador to Ghana, has praised the country’s democratic process following the recent elections, highlighting the peaceful and professional conduct observed throughout.

In a statement, Razaaly emphasized the EU’s active engagement in the electoral process, noting its participation in several pre-election activities, including manifesto launches, IPAC meetings, and the signing of the Peace Pact. On December 7, election day, 88 diplomats from the EU, its Member States, Norway, and Switzerland visited around 430 polling stations across 10 regions to observe the voting process.

Razaaly himself was present at the Jamestown polling station, where he witnessed the orderly closure of gates at 5:00 pm and the commencement of the vote count. The EU Ambassador praised the professionalism of polling staff and security forces during the election.

This year, the EU focused on supporting domestic institutions and civil society, collaborating with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ghana to deploy 4,000 domestic observers.

Razaaly also extended congratulations to President-elect John Dramani Mahama for his role in Ghana’s democratic achievements.
