Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has humbly accepted the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) defeat in the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

In a statement, the NPP’s Vice Presidential candidate expressed the party’s respect for the decision of the Ghanaian electorate and vowed to learn from the experience in order to mount a stronger comeback.

“The 2024 elections resulted in a victory for the National Democratic Congress (NDC). This was not the outcome we in the NPP had hoped for, but we respect the verdict of the Ghanaian people,” NAPO said. “To Ghanaians, we have heard you clearly, and with humility, we accept. We will work with you to get it right.”

Acknowledging the disappointment felt by NPP supporters, NAPO stressed the importance of introspection to understand the factors behind the party’s electoral performance. He revealed that discussions within the party are already underway to analyze the results and identify areas for improvement.

“I am grateful to the Lord Almighty for bringing me this far and for the honour of serving my Party and Ghana,” he added. “I have had extensive discussions with our flag bearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and in good time, we will reflect further as a political party on the causes of our 2024 election loss.”
