Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has described a visit from a young girl, Priscilla, as his “best Christmas gift.”
Priscilla, a four-year-old girl who was treated for leprosy at the Weija leprosarium, paid a visit to Dr Bawumia’s home to express her gratitude. The Vice President had sponsored her medical treatment in Italy after she suffered an amputated leg due to the disease.
In a post shared on social media, Dr Bawumia expressed his joy, saying: “I got my best Christmas gift yesterday when Priscilla, a four-year-old cured leper from the Weija leprosarium whom I sponsored for medical treatment of her amputated leg in Italy, returned to Ghana and paid me a visit at home to thank me and show that she can now walk with her new leg. To God be the glory.”

Priscilla, who had previously been unable to walk due to her condition, now moves with the help of a prosthetic leg. Her visit is a testament to the impact of Dr Bawumia’s generosity, highlighting both the power of medical intervention and the profound difference that acts of kindness can make in people’s lives.
The story has resonated widely, with many applauding Dr Bawumia for his role in supporting Priscilla’s recovery.
