The Krontihene of Akyem Asoum, Nana Boadi Amponim Abodade III, has suggested that Samira Bawumia, wife of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, was deeply disappointed following her husband’s defeat in the recent presidential election.

In a recent interview, Nana Boadi claimed that Samira had been heavily invested in her husband’s campaign and had envisioned herself playing a prominent role as First Lady.

“Dr. Bawumia is not happy; he did his best and was desperate for the position,” Nana Boadi stated. “But somebody else was even more unhappy—Samira. She was so desperate for the position.”

The Krontihene noted that Samira played a highly visible role throughout the NPP’s campaign, often taking the spotlight. He attributed this to her desire to become First Lady, along with her public presence and fashion sense.

“You know, our good old Auntie Rebecca [Akufo-Addo], she was not that outgoing, and so Samira was mostly at the forefront. She longed to be the First Lady,” Nana Boadi said.

He further added, “If the NPP had won, she would have slayed a lot. ‘She will slay aaah Ghanaian ladies all go bore die,’” suggesting that her style would have set trends.

Nana Boadi implied that Samira’s visible disappointment reflected the wider sentiment within the Bawumia household following the election loss, stating, “She is very unhappy.”
