World Bank Regional Vice President for Western and Central Africa to visit Ghana

World Bank Vice President for Africa West and Central, Mr. Ousmane Diagana, will visit Ghana from January 6 to 11, 2025.

During his visit, Mr. Diagana will attend the inauguration ceremony of Ghana’s President-Elect, H.E. John Dramani Mahama. He is also scheduled to meet with President Mahama to discuss the new administration’s vision and explore how the World Bank Group can support Ghana’s goals for economic prosperity and sustainable development.

While in Accra, Mr. Diagana will visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and Mausoleum, which was recently renovated with support from the World Bank.

Additionally, Mr. Diagana will travel to Kumasi to pay a courtesy visit to His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. In Kumasi, he will discuss progress on the Kumasi Urban Mobility Accessibility Project (KUMAP), currently under development, and visit the project site.

The World Bank has maintained a presence in Ghana since 1957. Its current active portfolio includes 25 projects worth a total of $4.84 billion, spanning various sectors. The largest areas of investment are finance and competitiveness (15%), health, nutrition, and population (12%), urban resilience and land management (12%), and social protection and jobs (9%).
