Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has voiced strong support for Ghana’s newly inaugurated President, John Dramani Mahama, expressing confidence in the positive changes his administration will bring to the country.

Speaking at Mahama’s inauguration in Accra on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, Tinubu praised the Ghanaian leader’s past contributions and said he was optimistic about the progress Mahama’s government would make.

“I have no doubt your administration will bring about positive change and progress,” Tinubu said, adding that Nigeria would continue to support Mahama’s government and encouraged him to seek assistance whenever needed.

In his own inaugural address, President Mahama outlined his vision for Ghana’s future, stressing the need for a national reset to tackle the country’s current challenges. Acknowledging the widespread economic hardships faced by Ghanaians in recent years, Mahama assured citizens that his government would work to bring about lasting change.

“If democracy is celebrated as a superior means of governance, then its outcomes must be more tangible and benefit people in their individual lives,” Mahama said, noting that many Ghanaians had yet to experience the full benefits of democracy.

Despite the economic difficulties of recent years, Mahama expressed hope for a brighter future. “We are a people hit by a severe economic crisis, but there is hope on the horizon. Today should mark the beginning of a new opportunity. We shall reset our dear nation, Ghana,” he declared.
