President John Dramani Mahama has issued a stark warning to potential appointees, stressing they will be held to the highest ethical and professional standards. Speaking at the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service at the University of Professional Studies in Accra on Sunday, January 12, 2025, Mahama told those seeking public office that the role would not be “business as usual.”

“Anyone appointed to public office must be aware that they will be held accountable to the highest standards,” Mahama said. “This is not going to be an easy job.”

He highlighted the importance of integrity in governance, urging appointees to prioritise the nation’s interests and maintain good governance principles. Mahama reminded them that they are entrusted with the country’s resources and the faith of the people of Ghana.

“We will govern with the understanding that we are stewards of the resources and trust bestowed upon us by the people of Ghana,” he added.
