Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has raised concerns over the failure to notify Parliament about Dr. Callistus Mahama’s appointment as Executive Secretary to the President.

Dr. Mahama, appointed by President John Dramani Mahama on January 6, 2025, officially assumed office on January 7, 2025. However, during the vetting of Finance Minister-designate Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson on January 13, Afenyo-Markin pointed out that Parliament had not been informed about the appointment.

“Under normal circumstances, the President should have communicated this appointment to Parliament, as part of good governance practices,” Afenyo-Markin remarked.

He further urged the swift completion of President Mahama’s cabinet formation to ensure efficient government operations.
